Authentically You Speech Therapy is a neurodiversity-affirming, pediatric speech therapy practice located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. We provide pediatric speech therapy both in-home and online to children in Oklahoma City & surrounding areas, as well as online in Arizona and Indiana.

It is our goal to help children of all ages communicate effectively and reach their goals, while respecting their authentic self.
OUR PEDIATRIC SPEECH THERAPY SERVICES
Your child is unique, and this is reflected in every step of the evaluation process at Authentically You Speech Therapy. Our speech and language evaluations are comprehensive, and will primarily emphasize your child’s strengths, while also identifying potential areas for support.
As the caregiver, you are a crucial part of the evaluation process, providing valuable information regarding how your child communicates in their daily life.

Following the evaluation, you will receive a written report and a treatment plan with individualized therapy goals, along with other personalized recommendations and resources to get started even before the first speech therapy session.
Speech therapy sessions at Authentically You Speech Therapy are play-based and child-led, with an emphasis on your child's special interests.
We encourage parents to be active participants during speech therapy sessions. In fact, children often meet their goals more quickly when parents work collaboratively with the speech therapist during the session to actively observe, ask questions, and practice language strategies that will be used at home in between speech therapy sessions.

ANIMAL-ASSISTED THERAPY
Meet "Tucker," Authentically You Speech Therapy's very own therapy dog. Animal-assisted therapy provides numerous benefits for neurodivergent children and children with communication difficulties including easing anxiety, encouraging play and social interactions, helping with transitions, and aiding with emotional and sensory regulation.

Authentically You Speech Therapy was founded by Claire Powers, an ASHA-Certified pediatric speech therapist. Claire has been a practicing pediatric speech therapist since 2020, and is licensed to provide both in-home speech therapy and online speech therapy in Oklahoma, Arizona, and Indiana. Claire specializes in speech therapy for autistic children, bilingual and multilingual children, children with various developmental disorders, and speech therapy for "late talkers." Claire is dedicated to providing speech therapy that moves beyond the compliance-based, medical model of speech therapy, and prioritizes meaningful connections that foster inclusion, belonging, and improved quality of life for all children and their families.

When Claire is not providing speech therapy, she enjoys spending time with her Australian Shepherd, Tucker, reading, exercising, traveling, and trying the newest restaurants in Oklahoma City.

Frequently Asked Questions About Speech Therapy
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, we are not in-network with any insurance plans. We are private pay and are considered an out-of-network provider. Keeping our practice small and private pay only allows us to provide highly-personalized speech therapy services for each individual child without barriers and limits often presented by insurance providers. Authentically You Speech Therapy can provide your family with a "superbill," which is a form given to you by the provider that you can submit to insurance for reimbursement. It is highly recommended that you contact your insurance provider to determine if they will accept a superbill before starting services.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Checks, credit cards, debit cards, health savings account (HSA), flexible savings account (FSA), and Empowerment Scholarship funding are all accepted forms of payment. In addition, most speech therapy services can be paid for using your flexible spending account (FSA) or healthcare savings account (HSA).
Authentically You Speech Therapy is an approved vendor through Class Wallet with the Empowerment Scholarship Program. If your child has been approved for the Empowerment Scholarship with an eligible preschool or school-age school disability, you can use those funds for speech therapy. Payment is due at the time of service and a credit or debit card will be required to be kept on file regardless of payment method.
Where will services be provided?
We currently offer both in-home and online speech therapy services. A hybrid approach to speech therapy may also be appropriate depending on your child's unique needs, which may change over time! We pride ourselves on being flexible and dynamic to what your child needs to be successful.
Do you require an evaluation?
A comprehensive evaluation is required before beginning speech therapy services. This allows us to look at the whole child and determine specific areas of need to be targeted in speech therapy. We will accept outside evaluations that have taken place within the last 6 months.
What is the process for receiving speech therapy?
The first step is to schedule a free consultation. Once we receive information about your concerns we will schedule an appointment for an evaluation. Evaluations typically take 1-2 hours to complete depending on your child's specific needs. In the days after the evaluation, the speech therapist will gather all the data and write up an evaluation report. Then, we will schedule another appointment to review the evaluation report, answer any questions you have, and create a treatment plan with goals created collaboratively by your family and the speech therapist.
How long are speech therapy sessions?
The length of speech therapy sessions varies based on your child's unique needs and goals. Our therapy options include 30-minute or 45-minute sessions for teletherapy services and 45-minute sessions for in-home services. The last few minutes of each session will be spent reviewing the session, progress on goals, and will include parent education regarding how to implement speech therapy strategies at home to increase carryover.
